Armor and Shields
The way Armor and shields work is they stack. The Shield takes the initial damage, remainder goes to the Armor, then left over going to the Body. Damage type needs to be able to penetrate the armor type to reduce Durability. Example: Ray has a Large shield and a Ballistic Vest, Charlie fires his Shotgun at Ray. Large shield soaks 2 of the 3 damage losing 3 durability. 1 Damage overflows to the Vest and gets soaked but loses 1 Durability.

Heavy - Heavy armor is just that, you need Strength 3 to wear it and induces -1 to dexterity while wearing.
Light - Light armor will only absorb bashing damage, but Lethal and Aggravated will punch through like its not there.
Medium - Medium armor will only absorb Bashing and Lethal damage, but Aggravated will punch through like its not there.
Soft - Soft armor only soaks Slashing and Blunt damage. Piercing such as a knife or Arrow ignores the armor
